IceMan

Wim Hof has used meditation to remain submerged in ice for hours, run a marathon in the desert with no water and clinically proved that he can influence his immune system at will.

Wim Hof first captured the attention of scientists when he demonstrated he was able to remain submerged in ice for one hour and 53 minutes without his core body temperature shifting. Since that time, he has climbed Mount Everest in his shorts, resisted altitude illness, completed a marathon in the Namibian Desert with no water and proven — under a lab setting — which he’s in a position to influence his autonomic nervous system and immune system at will.

Virtually everything Wim has done has been formerly considered to be hopeless, but he is not a freak of nature; he is a master of meditation.

To demonstrate that any person can understand his methods, Wim provided to teach VICE hosts Matt Shea and Daisy-May Hudson the best way to climb a freezing cold mountain in their shorts without getting cold. However, when Matt and Daisy signed up for the practice, they had no idea that the so-called Iceman was likely to direct them on a psychedelic journey across Europe that circled the chasm between science and spirituality.
